This last 2 years has been a struggle in so many ways for most of us, and one thing has become abundantly clear:
There is no safety in working for anyone else.
So many people have had their jobs ripped out from under them, through no fault of their own.
Just because the government decided you can’t go to work.
First it was because of lockdowns – everything was forced to close. No-one but “essential” workers were allowed out (who defines “essential” anyway?).
Then when the lockdowns ended, a large number continue to be locked out of work simply because they chose not to get jabbed.
We can argue over the “science” behind this, whether it has any “health” benefits and whether it is justified or not some other time. But the reality is that a large number of people were forced out of jobs they thought were “safe”.
Imagine that – your whole income stream terminated because of a decision someone else made.
Nothing to do with your ability to do your job.
Nothing to do with your desire to work or not.
Totally out of your control.
It’s a horrifying thought. One that until 2 years ago none of us would have even contemplated.
But this is the new “reality” we need to face.
Which begs the question …
What would you do if your employment was terminated?
Most of us don’t have a fallback plan.
Yet.
And this is why it is so important to start working on a side project now.
Whether you want to completely transition out of the traditional workforce, or you just want an insurance policy in case the worst happens, having something you have complete control of is more essential now than ever.
And there is no better way to do this than share your expertise online.
Now I know the thought of this can be scary. It raises questions you might not know how to answer at the moment:
- What skills do I have that I could even build something around?
- How would I make money from those skills?
- How would I even find people willing to pay?
Don’t worry, we’ve all had these thoughts.
But the good news is all these questions have answers. And I’m going to help you find them (if you stick around).
My goal is to help you start and build your “backup plan”. Whether or not you take it all the way to be your primary plan is up to you.
I just don’t want to see you left in a situation where your income is cut by factors beyond your control, and you are left wondering how you are going to make ends meet.
So if you’re interested in building an online asset then stick around. Better still, sign up to the email list and get the content straight to your inbox 🙂
